Weekend plans.

I am spending my weekend taking a Basic Video Production course through 911 Media Arts Center all weekend. When I got laid off from Escapia I booked a bunch of different classes that I had been wanting to take but kept putting off. Good strategy for me. I have been looking forward to this class for a month now and have time to scheme about which of the series I am going to take next. Will know more after today I suppose. Introduction ot Final Cut Pro will be exciting. Everytime I have entered a video editing software suite I have felt like a momo for my basic lack of knowledge. And I use the momo in the sense of a dumpling head or in reference to my beloved but much retarded (really) cat.

Linda is not looking forward to having to deal with the dogs new addiction to walks. With me hanging out at home they get to go to 2 different dog parks everyday, with 2 or 3 other little walks/ball chases incorporated in there someplace. I am a happy slave to all these beasts. Sometimes I feel like I am a direct descendent of the ancient worshippers of cats...cept I have taken it a few steps forward both up and down the evolutionary ladder as to who I will care for. dig.

Sweet find at an estate sale in W. Seattle yesterday (Gatewood). No date on it, but it is in immaculate condition and optics work great.

I love old science and medical equiptment, but especially when it is rough and tumble and tough enough to take with me camping, does not require batteries, and opens the whole micro-universe.

it looks like a big work list.

I am excited about naturalscientist.com. Big ideas about using it to publish curriculum with Sarah. Who knows though.

Good weekend. E.V. is visiting and Nate came over last night to play some board games. Elizabeth stopped by too and we had a feast from Buddha Ruska. Then the drinkers busted out the booze and had some bizarre debate about blended and singles scotches. woo hoo.

I, of course, passed out at 10:30 as the party raged around me. Grabbed my fat cat and off to bed.

No luck finding work yet. Being selective but open to new opportunity. I am trying to think outside of the internet/software world that I naturally turn to when I need a gig.

Keeping busy though. I have a presentation lined up at the school my mom teaches at. I am going to bring in some turtles and talk about them and their lifecycles. I am really excited and am taking the opportunity to work on my Duwumps Turtle Ranch Assets. I am taking an online design course from a website that doesn't use capital letters on "mobile -units and carts"... ie we are examining ice cream trucks, bicycle carts, circus wagons, and the like and doing critiqued designs around the theme.

I decided to build a circus wagon for my turtle presentation and have been having a blast retrofitting an old Air Algerie airline food cart to suit my purpose. I will post more pictures as I get it finished, but I built a crown mold on it with the cut out of a turtle on it, Painted the whole thing gold, building turtle plaques to attach to the front, working on lettering to advertise the

Chillin like a villain, looking for the perfect job, keeping myself busy while I look.
Spent my Monday at an auction, bought boxes of bones and a bunch of circus ephemera.

Can't sleep much. Creative flow is good. I am taking an online design course through the german website Designboom.com. The course explores Mobile units and Carts. Thrilling huh? but I have had a secret fetish for bicycle/food/moving/carts for years. Finally get the chance to explore it in a formal setting. I am digging it even though it furrows the brow. Thinking about a specific turtle display project. geeking.

Also signed up for certification for operating a digital video camera through the fine folks at the Northwest Film Forum. Also just signed up for a crash weekend course in video production at 911 Media Arts Center. Why the camera and video production? I had such a kick ass time when I was travelling through Central America working on a creative project that I promised myself that the next time I went out I would be better equiped to get footage. I also want to take a course in field audio. Maybe one day I will make my movie about Rwanda. In the meantime I want to try doing some filming on Indian Summer, the turtles, and get a hand for producing and editing video. Maybe Brandito and I can scheme a scheme.
