Sweet turtle love

Stanley, the new turtle, made himself familiar with the lady turtles Daisy, Dozer and ummm Hank. It was like some bwan-chicka-bwan turtle porn. I am, of course, just relaying what Linda told me. She also mentioned hearing strains of Barry White coming from the turtle ranch. I give you some photographic evidence provided by the paparazzi.

Ms. Rosa Parks

It took a strong woman to smack a nation hard enough upside the head. in life you were a hero, in death you join the new saints that I will teach my children about.

Eternal rest grant unto her, oh lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her.

This male 3-toed box turtle was found in a West Seattle backyard by a couple's two dogs. It was wandering between in a neighbors yard when they first spotted it, later he rambled onto their property. Signs in the neighborhood reveal no owners so he may have been out there for a while. He looks like he may have been run over in the past as well. The top of his shell is pretty scarred, but he is a gorgeous alert turtle.

Besides not being able to pull myself away from my newsblogs as I wait in eager anticipation of Mr. Fitzgerald handing out indictments like gifts on christmas morning. I can't wait to see stuff shatter. Like watching a sandstorm approaching from the Sahel, blacken the skies, natural disaster political disaster we all get ours in the end.

Besides the fact that linda and I were both feeling nasty we had an interesting weekend. On saturday Ma came down and we drove out to the NW Captive Bred Expo of Reptiles and Amphibians at the Puyallap fair grounds. Picture this: a rainbow of thousands of snakes and lizards in individual clear plastic salad containers. It was spectacular. There were some turtles present, though not as many as we had hoped for. We didn't bring anyhome, though I do have a new interest in Japanese pond turtles. Thinking about getting some hatchlings at some point in the future to start raising in the house. There was a 40 lb sulcata that had pretty severe pyramiding. reminded me of a bad copy of W.A.R.T. (west african rapid transit) the whopper sulcata we had when I was a kid in Mali. He was too long and squat and his tusks at the front of his shell were really pronounced. Looked like they might be hard to eat around.

Then sunday we ran some errands and stayed home and napped with the pups. I am looking forward to going back on my gut meds on Wednesday. Sick of being sickly.

skinny

I have been losing weight lately. Unlike most people, for me this is no cause for celebration. When I start to drop pounds I immediately worry that I am having another flare up of crohn's... and so it goes. I am back on a liquid diet for a little while (i hope) which means decreased energy and increased pain. bitch of a card to have been dealt.

so i am working from home today. verifying bug fixes in front of the fire with the dogs, cats, and assorted spiders. winter is coming and i need a nap.
