sanding progressing

Amy came up from Portland this weekend and she and Linda went off and did girly things.. Shopping, listening to the OC soundtrack, hanging out by the pool with Grandma. I opted to stay at home and cover myself in paint, sawdust and sanded fiberglass. i can now see over 30% of the molded plywood hull. I am pretty much stripping the hull bare and refinishing it, then building it back up. this will involve adventures in WEST System Epoxy and trips to the lumber yard to pick wood, copy all parts that i am replacing and putting it back together. Easy, right?

Had my first of a series of 3 remicade treatments last week. Infused with Crohn's battling goodness. Hoping that this will let me cut back on my prednisone intake. Woo hoo. I am now part mouse... or something like that... Sarah could probably explain better.

eeked by another week of being unemployed... thats something to write home about.

new boat

i acquired a new boat. I love the free pile on craigslist. with diligence it can be a great refuge for the underemployed in search of a bargain.
She is a little wood sailboat in need of some love. I will post pictures soon. Grandpa came over last night to give me a little direction in getting started. first things first. clean out garage and build some saw horses. The boat was built in 1960 and had the front replaced after it fell off a truck at some point. She is still pretty sweet looking though and you can tell that she loves the wind.

cleaning Quorum and crabbing

didn't have to paint. Just pull out the head and the stove. no big deal.

spent yesterday out on a dinghy with Brady getting crab for dinner. that was the stated purpose at least. we had a blast motoring around shilshole soaking wet, water coming over the side of our perilous craft. We checked out the sealions too. Nervously. They are big piles of muscles and fat.

results were successful. we wined and dined linda and heather on dungeness crab and grilled steak. life is hard. can't wait to put one of the new boats in the water.

did i mention that chris and i got a beater truck? it makes life so much easier. crab pots. boats. furniture. surf gear. i can carry anything.

cleaning Quorum

Heading down to the seaview boatyard this morning to work on the bottom of Quorum, the boat that i have raced on for 5 years or so now. I am looking forward to sweating and absorbing some toxic bottom paint.

can't seem to sleep at 4 am, so i sit here and scour the internet for anything interesting as rudy crashes out on my lap. it is nice to have a little cuddle buddy.

florida, Sarah, the dog park....

Yo.
home again home again
jiggity jig.
wrassling with my mac to keep it running and bouncing to the lovely sounds of Modest Mouse's latest and greatest.

Florida was great. Linda and I had a wonderful time with her folks and brother. We over ate at every chance and were made lightheaded by heavy wines. Damn delightful. Spent saturday afternoon out on the jetski with Linda and Paul bouncing around the intercoastal waterway. Late night drunk chat on the dock with Paul watching the snook eat mosquitos.

Rudy did remarkabley well with the travel. It is nice having a lunch pail size dog.

Sarah quit her mouse breeding job this morning with full support from her Seattle cheerleaders/purveyors of advice. Her boss at OHSU turned out to be a royal asshole. It seems he has a history of being abusive to the women who he hires to work in the lab with him. Prick. I don't like folks messing with my little sister and had half a mind to call the fucker myself. Sounds like HR will deal with him to some degree.

Lulu is sleeping on my feet as I type this. We just got back from the dog park and a exhausting ball chasing adventure. Nice to be back in the NW where I belong. Don't understand why anyone would live anywhere else... seems that Nate has been reconvinced of this too. I expect to see him back this way come August... now if we could just persuade Brandito.
