Had a beautiful wet and windy race aboard "Quorum" on Saturday. Highlight of the race occurred on our first leg towards Duwamish Head when we encountered a pod of orca. I would guess that there were about ten of them feeding on the chum salmon that are running. It is amazing watching their dagger like dorsal fins rise up out of the gray Sound. mmmm. Doesn't get any better than this.

Linda and Sarah made it home last night. Happiness at the NBPeters houshold. Sarah and i got up this morning at 5 and hung out, walked the dog, drank tea. It is going to be good to have my little sister around for a spell.

The ladies of the household are currently in Boseman, Mt. Hoping to have them home late tonight or tomorrow sometime.

in which i walk the dog.

so i have been exercising again. it is as i like it. low impact on my life. getting lulu has forced me to get up from my little green office chair and out into the world again. it is so nice. I have also been walking to work from where the #55 drops me off, right across from the lusty lady. I walk down first ave to jackson where i go east. i don't know... it is only a mile or so... but it is enough that i can reconnect with seattle every morning. the streams of pedestrians gushing off the ferry, the workers at the federal building smoking, the fellows who have spent the night in pioneer square.

walking lulu helps me reconnect as well. i am forced into the weather every morning at about 5:30 when i take her out for a walk. she sniffs dog poop, does her business, sniffs angrynose the barky dog up the street. i drink my tea and check up on the neighbors. the stars are still shining bright.

I can't wait till the snow starts to fall.

early morning post. went out walking around greenlake neighborhoods last night with Lulu, Max and Archie, and Adam, Deb and Ben Tratt. We had an excellent night out topped off with dinner at guaymas.

Linda and Sarah are stuck in Spearfish, South Dakota. They hit some snow + black ice conditions and are trying to wait it out (no donner party jokes, please.) The plan yesterday was to hit the road sometime late this morning. I am hoping for no further complications. I miss my wife and lulu is chewing everything. I am not sleeping well. Lulu and I are big babies.

the question when i wake up at three a.m. always is: do i stay here and try to sleep? or do i give in to whatever forces kicked my ass out of sleepyland and feed the cat? or go take the hound out... or finish my particularly trashy Clive Cussler pulp.
